Protests at Mexican consulates in the U.S. were organized after news outlets began reporting on former Marine Jon Hammar's plight. The original protest movement started in Sacramento, where in just 2 days almost 150 people signed up. Moves were underway to make the protests go nationwide when Jon was released.
